Batik is a technique that uses wax as a resist, layering melted wax and water based dyes onto cotton to create vibrant paintings. Join Belinda to design and create your own piece of Batik fabric/wall art. Using traditional Tjanting tools to draw onto paper and cotton fabric, letting the hot wax flow across the surface, leaving patterns and shapes behind. This resist technique then allows fabric inks to be applied, creating a wonderful contrast. You will then iron off the wax, revealing your design that can then be embellished with stitching, beads or buttons. A therapeutic experience with a wonderful outcome.
